Step into the expressive world of Vincent Van Gogh and learn to paint with his unmistakable energy and emotion. In this six‑week series, students will explore the techniques behind Irises (1889), one of Van Gogh’s most luminous works painted in the gardens of the Saint‑Rémy asylum.

• Texture & Emotion

Color & Palette- for oil and acrylics

bring these paint colors: cobalt blue, ultramarine blue, emerald green, chrome yellow, cadmium red, alizarin crimson, yellow ochre, burnt siena, viridian and white . You’ll learn how to mix and layer these hues to achieve depth and vibrancy.

 Class Options

Students may recreate Van Gogh’s Irises or bring a photograph of their own garden flowers in a similar composition. Each participant will receive personalized guidance to translate their reference into a painterly, Van Gogh‑inspired masterpiece.

Class Format

• Six consecutive Thursday sessions focused on color mixing, brushwork, and expressive composition.
• Critiques, and individual coaching tailored to intermediate and advanced painters.
• Final session dedicated to finishing touches and varnishing techniques.

 Outcome

By the end of the course, you’ll have a richly textured painting bursting with life — your own interpretation of Van Gogh’s Irises, infused with your personal style and emotion.

 

Class is held at the Medeiros Studio at 17 Belair Drive, Danbury CT.
